Thank you to all of the attendees, sponsors (especially Gardenporn), and volunteers who helped to make JournalCon DC possible! We owe every last one of you a great debt of gratitude! A couple of points of business:
Gardenporn is our biggest sponsor this year. Not only has Gardenporn given us a big box of money, but they also have a terrific graphic.
ThreeWay Action is another major sponsor.
The Beggar's Purse has elected to sponsor the Parenting panel.
Austin had a webcam and we're not to be outdone. Yes, Virginia (and DC, and Maryland), there will be a JournalCon webcam this year. Stay tuned to this site. But there will also be a JournalCon Moblog! That's right, through the power of the Internet, magic, cameraphones, and Flickr, we're going to set up a JournalCon DC Moblog here on this site. We'll post the e-mail address to post directly to the blog from your phone so it can be updated continually all weekend long. For the time being, if you want to take a look around Flickr, head on over there, set up an account, and add "JournalCon DC" as a contact. (It will not be necessary to create a Flickr account to post to the moblog.)
This time, we have extended the deadline for booking a hotel room at the sweet, sweet negotiated rate of $119 indefinitely. The catch: this offer is subject to end at any time. Mosey on over to the Hotel Information page for the Helix's phone number and the hotel code. Remember, to book within the block, you must book by telephone -- not by internet! Once you book, please e-mail Kalamity with your hotel information so we can double check all of the block information.
The deadline for booking a hotel room at the sweet, sweet negotiated rate of $119 has been extended to Tuesday, August 3. Mosey on over to the Hotel Information page for the Helix's phone number and the hotel code. Remember, to book within the block, you must book by telephone -- not by internet!
The countdown to JournalCon begins. And tomorrow, July 30, is our first major deadline. By tomorrow, you must make hotel reservations at the Hotel Helix using the hotel code, as the JournalCon block of rooms will be released to the general public on July 31. This means that we cannot guarantee you a room or the negotiated rate of $119 after tomorrow. Furthermore, tomorrow is also the 21 day deadline for buying 21-day advance airline tickets, so if you haven't bought a ticket already, you'd better hurry up! Finally, if you are paying by personal check, it must be postmarked by tomorrow.

In a perfect world, democracy works like this: you made an informed decision, you voted and you waited. And now, we say "Let the people have their way!" It's JournalCon DC, and it is on.
Join us in Washington, D.C. on August 20-22 for the 5th annual gathering of online journallers, bloggers, web writers and interesting internet people. It's finally time for us to gather, meet, discuss and disagree-but-like-one-another-anyway. The program will include a variety of topics, from trends in specialty blogs to new and inventive publishing software, and will cover a broad spectrum of ideas and opinions. Our setting is majestic and more than a little magical, and our home for the weekend is an adventure in the surreal.
The Constitution of the United States says we have the right to assemble. Who are we to argue with the Constitution?
It's time -- Register. Discuss. Support. PARTICIPATE. This is a JournalCon for the people, by the people. And you're our people, from sea to shining sea. Welcome to JournalCon DC!
